I’ve been fishing for over 30 years now, and carp fishing for a good 15 years, I grow up on silty estate lakes, with small battle hardy carp. Last few years I’ve moved on to bigger things and bigger fish, with my PB now standing at 51lb 12oz. I love wafters and simple rigs, i prefer to set my traps and wait it out.
Jay Newton
has been fishing most of his life, spending many years on the match scene before making the transition to carp fishing 8 years ago. He spends his time down south fishing waters off the beaten track for the carp that time forgot. Jay fishes all year round particularly enjoying winter fishing. "Every lake has it's weakness, find it" is the motto that Jay tries to stick to. He is an angler willing to help anybody and brings some great qualities to the team.
Dan Surch
has been carp fishing for over 20 years. His personal best is a 35lb+ common. Dan is fishing a syndicate in Northampton at the moment but does enjoy competing in matches on occasion. Dan has even managed to get to the final of the East Midlands carp cup! He favours a bottom bait/ wafter fished on a flourocarbon D Rig but the Ronnie rig is a close second. Dan is a top guy and with his competitive fishing brings something different to the team.
Lance has been fishing for over 20 years. During that time he has managed to catch some cracking fish including a UK personal best of over 40lb and over 55lb abroad. He currently spends his time fishing a 60acre gravel pit. Lance is a true advocate of the hinge stiff rig. A genuine nice guy and a great team member.
Gareth Thomas
started fishing 20 years ago first as a sea angler before making the switch to carp fishing. He is very active on social media; running fishing chat groups, writing for online fishing magazines and filming his fishing sessions for his YouTube channel. At the moment he is outwitting the carp of the Birch syndicate in Newport. Gareths' rigs of choice are the multi rig and blow back. He is an active angler and a valid member of the team.
James has been fishing for over 38 years, and carp fishing for the best part of 28 years. Having started carp fishing in London, then Kent, fishing the lakes in their prime such as the Tip Lake, Sutton, Horton Kirby then lately wife expansive and deep chalk pits such as Blue Lake I wind up in the carp Mecca land of Yateley.
With a PB of 48lbs, with a fish from Wasing called The Parrot, and another 7 UK 40lbers to the tally so far, for me carp fishing in more about the peace and tranquility, nowadays. I love being out and try to manage at least two overnighters per week, even though work and family are now much a part of my life.
Carp fishing is a life, it will never leave you and becomes an important make up of who you are. That’s the dedication and commitment you make when you embark on its adventures.
